About Me
Welcome. Your mental health matters.
My name is Laura Curry, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#113832) and owner of a practice based in Georgetown, California. I am proud to offer services to clients throughout both California and Nevada.
I believe that every person deserves to thrive. Your mental health is a vital part of who you are, and it matters deeply to me. I'm honored to meet clients where they are and help them find their way forward. Life often deals us a difficult hand, and I am here to help you exchange those cards for better, healthier things. My greatest strength is being authentic and true to myself, and I hope to create a space where you feel you can do the same. I want to show you that resilience can be built, skills can be learned, and that the things we've been through do not have to define us.

Who I'm Here to Help
I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns. My experience has equipped me to help with a variety of challenges, including anxiety, grief, addiction, chronic illness, and relationship issues. For example, we might work on developing coping skills to manage the physical and emotional symptoms of anxiety, or we might navigate the complex emotions that come with loss. I have a deep commitment to supporting first responders and military veterans, as well as new parents who are navigating postpartum challenges, as these are individuals who often carry unique and profound burdens. My professional experience spans all age groups, from children as young as three to adults as old as 87, allowing me to provide informed care throughout all life stages. This broad experience enables me to understand the different developmental and life-stage challenges that may arise, from childhood behavioral issues to the transitions of adulthood and later life.

My Therapeutic Approach
I take an eclectic and client-centered approach, which means our work together is uniquely tailored to you. By drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities, I create a flexible and personalized plan to support your growth and healing, rather than fitting you into a single framework.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): I utilize CBT to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. This is a well-researched method for addressing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. In our sessions, we will work together to understand how your thoughts impact your feelings and actions, and then we'll build skills to create real, lasting change.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): With extensive training in DBT, I use this approach to help you build practical skills in four core areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills are designed to empower you to navigate overwhelming emotions and develop healthier coping strategies in your daily life.
Other Modalities: In addition to these core modalities, my practice also integrates trauma-informed practices and approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to further tailor our work.

What to Expect in Our First Session
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and it’s completely normal to feel a bit unsure about opening up to someone new. I want to honor that hesitation and assure you that our first session is all about creating a space where you feel comfortable and in control. I'll begin by sharing a little about myself, both personally and professionally, so you can get a better sense of who I am. Then, we will transparently discuss key aspects of our therapeutic relationship, including confidentiality and your rights as a client. This ensures you feel fully informed and safe as we begin our work together.
Once we've covered those foundational details, the rest of our time will be completely dedicated to you and your story. I’ll listen as you share your background, current challenges, and the symptoms that led you to seek support. We’ll explore what you’d like to work on and begin creating a personalized plan with clear goals that we both agree on. We will also begin to discuss what a successful end to your therapy journey may look like, because it’s important to know we are always working toward a clear, positive outcome.
Ultimately, this first session is designed to ensure you leave feeling informed, truly heard, and hopeful about the path we will walk together.

Explore and apply the skills and insights we discuss in your daily life. Experiment with new tools and techniques.
Discover what truly works for you in your unique circumstances.
